Comfort is the name of the game with our Contemporary Country look. A functional, laid back and cosy feel paves the way for soft sofas, cosy armchairs and plenty of cuddly cushions.
Contemporary Country aspires to be the perfect family home with plenty of authentic, natural materials, real wood, sisal and stone. A colour palette of soft whites, greys and muted pastels is used to warm everything up, along with wood burning stoves and cosy textured linens. Use the treasures that the kids have collected from walks on the beach to accessorise and bring your living spaces to life.
We've pulled together some of our favourite looks from our recent Contemporary Country photoshoot to show you just how easy is is to achieve this style at home and inspire you to create your own take on it.
Chic not Shabby
Calm and caring, this look has an element of reinvented shabby chic to it. Its a pure classic, with pale colours, driftwoods and painted surfaces. Contemporary Country is recycled but not junky, distressed but not too rough, well used but not worn out.
Add modern wicker with accents of leather, a mix of scented and block candles, hurricane lamps and hints of old boat rope to give a feel of being washed up on the beach, found and brought home to treasure. Use soft cushions with texture and a hint of pattern and colour for a cosy lived in look on sofas and chairs that you can just relax into.
Space for Everyone
A dining table big enough for weekend family brunches is a must, always laden with home baking, chunky ceramic dishes and fresh flowers. Choose an oversized sofa with lots of textured and comfy cushions for everyone to snuggle into.
